Whilst this time of year gives us lipstick lovers a great excuse to wear a dark, bold lip all day, everyday, in reality, it’s probably not practical. At least for me, it isn’t. I mean who can be bothered to keep checking whether your lipstick isn’t smeared half way across your face whilst in a client meeting or whether it’s managed to manoeuvre it’s way onto your teeth whilst you’re eating, or worse off, speaking to your colleagues or even your boss! This is why the nude lip will always be versatile and appropriate for every season. All day, everyday.
I first touched upon nude lips here on my blog specifically for south-east Asian skin tones like mine at the turn of the year but there I focussed on a mix of budget and mid end (primarily MAC) brands. But I wanted to do an update (as I’ve discovered a whole load more great nude lipsticks since then) and film it so you can see the lipsticks in action, and this time with a focus on affordable drugstore/highstreet brands. It can be quite difficult to wear a nude lip but I find, especially with the lighter shades that look so beautiful in the bullet but maybe not as beautiful on the lips, you can pair them with a slightly darker, nude lip pencil (either line your lips or fill them in completely) and it will totally change the look and colour of the nude lipstick to make it more wearable and flattering on the complexion, especially if like me, you want to avoid that concealer lip look (unless you’re going for that look of course). Hence why I wanted to also share with you my favourite nude lip liners. These lip liners are rather versatile so you can mix and match them with pretty much any of the lipsticks I’ve featured and each time, you’ll get a slightly different look to your nude lip. It just depends on what look you’re going for on the day; a pinky nude, a more earthy 90’s brown nude, or a perkier, peachier nude, the world is your oyster as they say.
