Chanel NEW Rouge Coco Lipstick Mini Review & Swatches

Chanel have reformulated an existing line of lipsticks and launched it with a big bang. Well of course. It’s Chanel. Having not tried the previous Rouge Coco formulation, I was very intrigued especially as the range showcases a strong lineup with 29 new shades. Wow!

I stumbled upon the new range in John Lewis whilst out shopping today, and with Kiera Knightley as the face of Chanel, I was drawn to the gorgeous image of her and her pouty red lips, strategically placed on the new lipstick stand. Making sure there were no prying eyes, I went on a little swatch fest and swatched the shades I was most drawn to and what I thought would suit my yellow, medium, warm toned complexion.

Chanel describes the lipstick formula as one that combines hydration and comfort. Having seen only a couple of photos and reviews of the newly reformulated Rouge Coco, I was quite surprised with the formula as it was more sheer than I had imagine. Now don’t get me wrong, it’s not a sheer lipstick at all and appeared to layer quite well for a more intense pop of colour, but in my mind I thought it would pack a punch with one application. There is also a sheen to the formulation and I feel they are a cross between the Rouge Coco Shine and the Rouge Allure lipsticks, both of which I am quite familiar with. The new Rouge Coco lipsticks glide on with ease and I’d imagine to wear quite comfortably on the lips as with the two aforementioned formulas.

The shades I swatched were; Arthur, a warm red with an orange undertone; Etienne, a mid toned rosy plum; Dimitri, a warm neon pink; Coco, a warm orange; Suzanne, a muted plum; and Marie, a warm dusky rose. Since then I have gone on to purchase the shade Adrienne, a muted, mid-tone, peachy nude which is the perfect everyday shade. If you want a versatile shade that you can throw on day or night, whatever the makeup look and without the need for a mirror, Adrienne is your guy.

So what Rouge Coco shade do you have your eye on?
